Golden West 35, Pasadena 31--John Frank’s 90-yard touchdown pass to Darrell Miles with 4:40 left in the game set a school record for longest touchdown completion and finished a fourth-quarter rally for the Rustlers (3-7). Golden West trailed, 31-21, at the start of the quarter. Frank completed 13 of 17 passes for 334 yards and four touchdowns.
Orange Coast 22, Fullerton 20--A 29-yard field goal by Ian Gill in the third quarter gave Orange Coast a two-point lead that proved to be enough and the Pirates stopped a 17-game losing streak. The loss ended Fullerton’s hope for a bowl bid.
Fullerton (5-5, 3-3) threatened late in the game, driving to Orange Coast’s 33-yard line. But quarterback Geoff Berg was unable to get snap the ball before the clock ran out.
One of the key points of the game came in the final minute of the first half. Fullerton’s Anthony Scott caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Berg with 41 seconds left for a 14-13 lead. But the Pirates (1-9, 1-5) scored as time expired when Antonio Leone caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Chad Collins to take a 19-13 lead at the half.
Palomar 36, Saddleback 26--Paul Thompson caught two touchdown passes for Saddleback (6-4, 4-2). Thompson finished with five receptions for 76 yards.
