MISSION VIEJO — Two young men robbed an Edwards Cinema early Friday morning after tying up and punching the manager, then locking him in a storage room, authorities said.
The manager was changing the letters on the marquee outside the Edwards Trabuco Hills Cinema at 27765 Santa Margarita Parkway at 12:30 a.m. when the two men, who had finished seeing a movie, approached him and said they intended to rob the theater, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Wilkerson.
The men then assaulted the manager and took his wallet, keys and the theater’s money from a safe, escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash, Wilkerson said.
The victim, who suffered bruises from the assault, was able to break loose and call authorities, Wilkerson said.
The robbers were described as white, 19 to 20 years old and wearing baseball caps. One man had a goatee.
