Clipper Fan’s Lament: Fitch, Fitch, Fitch
- Share via
On the day after the Clippers’ victory over Golden State, I’m reminded of the frustration the unfortunate Clipper players and fans are confronted with during Bill Fitch’s reign of terror. We all are aware of the sorry job that Fitch, the losingest coach in the history of the NBA, has done with this team.
In The Times’ Dec. 19 Clipper Report, Fitch comments on guard James Robinson’s 29.6 shooting percentage. This is the same James Robinson Clipper management signed in the off-season to a five-year, $10.5-million contract. Fitch attributes the low shooting percentage to the 40 minutes per game spent warming the bench and the one-shot opportunity his guard has per game: “That’s a tough job to do, but somebody’s got to do it.”
Excuse me? Should the player that Fitch feels is best suited to take the clutch shot spend the other 40 minutes collecting dust on the bench? $25,610 per shot from your summer free-agent acquisition seems a little extravagant.
