There are local tournaments at Garden Grove, Laguna Beach and Costa Mesa this weekend, but Marina annually hosts the best local tournament of the season, where five of the county’s top 10 teams are competing.

Fifth-ranked Marina, led by all-county guard Natalie Nakase, opens the tournament against Century during Friday’s first round, with the winner probably playing sixth-ranked Mater Dei--unless Pacifica posts an upset. Second-ranked San Clemente opens against No. 8 Rosary on the same side of the bracket, with the winner probably playing perennial Alaska power East Anchorage on Saturday.
