In the early evening sky, Mars is close to Venus, which is brilliant and low in the southwest. Mars, which is only 1/200th as bright, lies three degrees to the left of Venus.
The two planets will separate rapidly in days to come. Bright Jupiter is 17 degrees to the upper left of Venus. Mars will pass clos to Jupiter in the sky in less than one month.
