Yeltsin Has ‘Normal Virus’

MOSCOW — President Boris N. Yeltsin, convalescing from a viral infection in a sanatorium near Moscow, said Sunday that he is not fully recovered but is in full command.
“I caught a sore throat somewhere. I’m a bit weak. On the whole, I don’t feel too good,” the Russian leader said in a hoarse voice after casting his vote at the sanatorium in an election for the Moscow city parliament.
“The doctors say it is a normal virus. . . . It’s the one going around in Moscow,” he told reporters, adding that it would take about 10 days to clear up.
“I am a Muscovite so I caught it. It shows that I am in touch with Muscovites,” he said with a smile.
