KAHUKU, Hawaii — Marina went through pool play undefeated and went on to win the title of the Cook Invitational girls’ volleyball tournament here Saturday night.
The Vikings beat defending Southern Section Division III-A champion North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake in the championship match of the two-day event, 15-1, 15-10, after rallying to knock the Wolverines into the losers’ bracket earlier in the day, 7-13, 15-7, 15-1. A 15-minute time clock was used in each match.
“We beat some quality teams,” Marina Coach Darrick Lucero said. “Harvard-Westlake beat us rather handily last year in the non-league, so it was nice to get some measure of revenge.”
