Man Charged in Attempt to Kill Dog

PONTIAC, Mich. — Prosecutors said Friday they filed charges of attempting to kill an animal against Charles Woodworth of Holly, Mich., the owner of a mixed-breed dog that survived three gunshots to the head.
He could get up to two years in prison or a fine of up to $2,500 if convicted.
Woodworth told a local television station Thursday that he tried to kill Clementine on Aug. 25 because the dog was tearing up his house. He said he stopped because his .32-caliber handgun “wasn’t getting the job done.”
Veterinarians said she survived because the bullets did not penetrate her skull. She has been put up for adoption by the Michigan Humane Society.
