A gunman wearing a black suit and sunglasses robbed a West Covina record store Wednesday and fled with the money in his briefcase, authorities said.
The man entered Tower Records shortly after 10 a.m. and told an employee that he wanted to sell compact discs on consignment, West Covina police said.
The man then displayed a handgun under his jacket and ordered workers into the store’s offices, where he pulled out the weapon and forced the manager to give him the contents of the safe, said police Officer Rudy Lopez.
The bandit filled his briefcase with the money and ordered everyone to stay in the offices while he left the store, Lopez said.
The robber was described as a 35- to 45-year-old black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, with short black hair, authorities said.
