Special Events Spice Farmers Markets

Produce growers are celebrating August as Farmers Market Month with special events planned in Calabasas, Encino and San Fernando.
A family festival with arts and crafts, rides, booths and live entertainment will be the highlight of the San Fernando Farmers Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The festival will be held along San Fernando Road between Brand and San Fernando Mission boulevards.
The Encino Farmers Market, also on Sunday, will feature food author Janet Fletcher signing her book and preparing samples of her recipes. The weekly market, open from 8 a.m. to noon, is conducted at 17400 Victory Blvd., between White Oak Avenue and Balboa Boulevard.
Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) will be the guest at the Calabasas Farmers Market celebration on Aug. 30. The market, open weekly from 8 a.m. to noon, is held at Calabasas Road and El Canon Avenue.
