Metalclad Corp.: The Newport Beach company, engaged in the development of industrial waste treatment facilities in Mexico and insulation services in Southern California, reported a loss of $2.3 million, or 8 cents a share, for the 1997 first half. That compares with a net loss of $4.2 million for the comparable period a year ago. The company did not report second-quarter results because it changed its fiscal year. Results for the six months ended June 30, 1997, were compared to the six months ended May 31, 1996 because of the change to a Dec. 31 fiscal year end from a May 31 fiscal year. Revenue for the first half fell 34% to $4.9 million from $7.4 million. The company attributed the revenue decline the closing of two unprofitable offices and a general reduction in demand for insulation services in the industrial market segment.
