The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the Channel Islands Community Services District will host a safety seminar for children Saturday at Channel Islands Harbor.
The third annual “It’s a Children’s Affair” will feature gun-safety videos and fingerprinting, as well as music, games and a free lunch.
“It’s kind of a community block party with a focus on children,” Deputy Leslie Daily said.
Representatives from the Forest Service, Channel Islands Harbor and various city police departments in the county will have booths, and officers will provide a police dog demonstration and a police helicopter display.
The Oxnard Fire Department will operate its “smoke house” facility, an inflatable home in which children are taught how to escape from a burning house.
Activities will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3900 Victoria Ave.
