Ortega’s Double a Winner, 10-8

Clemente Ortega’s bases-loaded double with no outs in the sixth inning gave Studio City North the decisive runs in a 10-8 victory over San Fernando in an American Legion District 20 baseball game at Sylmar High on Tuesday.
Ortega, who was three for four, gave Studio City North a 9-7 lead with his double and then scored on a single by Mario Pacheco.
Pacheco was also three for four for Studio City North (7-3), which led, 5-0, at the end of two innings, but trailed, 7-6, after 4 1/2 innings.
Woodland Hills East 13, North Hollywood East 2--Right fielder Mitch Spector’s one-out, bases-empty home run broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth and started an 11-run outburst that inning for Woodland Hills East at Franklin Field.
Spector was four for four with three RBIs. He has 12 hits in his past 15 at-bats, an .800 average. Pitcher Jeff Spector (2-1), Mitch’s brother, allowed three hits in four innings for the win and was two for three. Alfredo Saenz also hit a three-run home run for Woodland Hills East (9-3).
Burbank North 13, Van Nuys South 3--Corry Parrott hit a two-run double in the second inning and a three-run, inside-the-park home run in the third to lead Burbank North (4-6), which scored five runs in each of those innings at Birmingham High. Jessie Perez went the distance, allowing six hits while striking out seven.
Valley North 9, Central Valley 5--Joe Tillman’s RBI double keyed a three-run third inning, and Bryan Gant hit a three-run home run in the fourth for Valley North (10-1) at Chatsworth High.
Ismael Marin (4-0) struck out five and allowed five hits in five innings for the win. Santiago Esparza was three for four for Central Valley (7-4).
Granada Hills East 5, Sun Valley 0--A three-run double by Enrique Navarette in the bottom of the third was all Granada Hills East (7-4) needed at Kennedy High. Wes Crown (2-0) went six innings, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out four. Crown also had two hits.
Panorama City 4, Granada Hills West 2--Victor Hall’s RBI single in the third gave Panorama City (8-2) the eventual game-winning run and a 3-0 lead at Alemany. Rafael Arroyo had a run-scoring double in the fourth.
Ryan Ennis (3-0) went the distance, allowing five hits while striking out four and walking one.
