Truck Bomb Kills 8 Police, Injures 10

A bomb apparently triggered by remote control exploded in a truck as it was being searched at a police station in the capital, Bogota, killing eight officers and injuring 10, officials said. Seven of the officers, including a captain, died on the spot. The eighth officer died at a nearby hospital. The truck’s driver was detained by police and was refusing to identify himself, according to the Bogota police chief. The truck had been seized earlier in the day about 15 miles outside the capital, the chief said.
