Medical Center Hosts Barbecue for Seniors

To celebrate a decade of service to older people in the Valley, Columbia West Hills Medical Center’s Senior Friends will throw a party Thursday to honor nine of its charter members.

Founded in April 1987, the group has grown from only a few seniors to nearly 4,000 members, and is one of more than 220 chapters nationwide.

About 1,500 are expected at Thursday’s party.

In addition to a barbecue and entertainment, the group will distribute coupons for free health screenings, including those for blood pressure, hearing, blood glucose and cardiovascular evaluation.
