Newcomers

I am still laughing 24 hours after reading Peter King’s June 4 column. Hey, if Californians are moving to Seattle, maybe this would be a good time to move to California, after 45 years in the Sea-Tac area, as a transplant from Idaho.

It is true that Californians don’t believe in last names. At social functions they introduce themselves, “I’m Laura and this is my husband, Jim.” Are they afraid we’ll look them up if they give their last name and drop in on them? We’re far too sophisticated for that!

At least we knew when it would rain; if it wasn’t raining, we knew that it would.
