The body of a newborn baby was found Friday in a garbage bin in Santa Fe Springs, authorities said.
A woman in a red sports utility vehicle drove up to bin behind a bank building about 2 p.m. and dropped a plastic bag inside, a witness told police. As the woman sped away, the witness looked inside the bag and found the body, said Lt. Bill Heckel of the Whittier Police Department.
The driver was described as a heavyset woman, 35 to 40 years old, with blond hair.
