Orthodox Jews Pelt Worshipers at Wall

Ultra-Orthodox Jews pelted Jewish men and women with bags of excrement and rocks for praying together near Jerusalem’s Western Wall. A group of Conservative and Reform Jews carried a Torah scroll to the wall to mark Shavuot, a holiday to commemorate Moses’ receiving of the Ten Commandments. The ultra-Orthodox believe that men and women must not worship together. The ultra-Orthodox Jews shouted “Nazis! Nazis!” and hurled stones and bags of excrement from balconies of nearby Jewish seminaries, hitting one worshiper before fleeing, a police spokesman said.
