IT’S YOU! IT’S YOU!

I was reading Carla Hall’s insightful interview with Tommy Lee Jones (“Men in Sync,” May 18) and was surprised that, when told that he was a large part of the success of “The Fugitive,” he replied, “Those people didn’t go to the movie to see me.”

When I was a kid, I watched a TV movie entitled “The Executioner’s Song,” where I saw a young Tommy Lee give the most riveting performance in the history of acting. For years, I’ve watched everything from Sally Field cast as a hooker to a fat guy with bad taste in clothes outwit one of the shrewdest villains ever, just because they happened to be playing opposite that wonderful actor from “Executioner’s Song.”

So Tommy, if you really believe audiences aren’t coming to see you, you need to have your head examined!
