A Camarillo company and a Sunnyvale firm are suing each other, both claiming infringement on patents covering technology to encode and decode multichannel television signals.
California Amplifier in Camarillo filed suit against Pacific Monolithics, an action that was quickly followed by a counter-suit against California Amplifier by Pacific Monolithics.
California Amplifier’s lawsuit targets Pacific’s Cypherpoint system, which California Amplifier asserts infringes on its MultiCipher system. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for California’s Central District, seeks an injunction on the sale of Cypherpoint and monetary damages.
Pacific Monolithics also claims patent infringement and is seeking an injunction and monetary damages. Its lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Northern California.
Both companies manufacture downconverters, antennas and scrambling systems for wireless cable television.
