Flinn Officially Leaves Air Force

Lt. Kelly J. Flinn, the first female B-52 bomber pilot, left the Air Force and officially rejoined civilian life when her general discharge went into effect, spokesmen said. Flinn, 26 and single, received the discharge from the Air Force to avoid being court-martialed on charges that included adultery, lying during an official investigation and disobeying a direct order. Flinn’s discharge went into effect at midnight, said Capt. Chester Curtis at Minot Air Force Base. Curtis could not confirm media reports that Flinn was headed back to her parents’ home in Georgia.
