Loara, the defending champion, meets unseeded Long Beach Millikan in the Southern Section Division II badminton final at 4:30 p.m. today at the Orange County Badminton Club in Orange.
Loara (18-1), the No. 2-seeded team, was co-champion of the Empire League with Magnolia, which was upset by Millikan, 14-5, in Tuesday’s semifinals. Millikan only loss in 17 matches this season was to Loara, 12-7.
Loara is led by its mixed doubles team of Tuan Nguyen and Sharon Myung, which won the section’s individual championship on May 15. The boys’ doubles team of Steve Lee and Nguyen and Melva Won in girls’ singles reached the semifinals of the individuals.
