Two high school boys’ volleyball teams from the region are still alive in the Southern Section playoffs--Royal and Harvard-Westlake.

Royal plays Capistrano Valley at 7 p.m. in a Division I semifinal tonight at Simi Valley High. Harvard-Westlake plays Santa Ynez at 8 p.m. in a Division III semifinal at Brentwood High.

Second-seeded Royal (19-0) struggled briefly against Thousand Oaks on Friday, but won in four games. Third-seeded Capistrano Valley (18-1) features USC-bound Ryan Thurlow and one of the top juniors in the nation, 6-foot-5 Beau Rawi, who can touch 11-8.

Trevor Julian, who has signed with USC, is the key player for third-seeded Harvard-Westlake (14-4) against second-seeded Santa Ynez (19-1), the two-time defending division champion.

The Pirates feature Larry Witt--a junior outside hitter whose brother, Andy, started for NCAA-champion Stanford as a freshman--and Mike Wall, a 6-4 outside hitter who has committed to Brigham Young.

Minor league baseball: At 7:15 p.m., Visalia at Lancaster.

High school baseball: At 7:30 p.m., City Section 4-A championship game, at Dodger Stadium, El Camino Real vs. Banning.

Boys’ tennis: At 1:30 p.m., City Section individual championships (singles and doubles), quarterfinals, at Studio City Racquet Center.
