Girl, 18 Months, Struck by Car

PANORAMA CITY — An 18-month-old girl suffered head injuries Tuesday after she was hit by a vehicle in the middle of a block in a residential neighborhood, according to authorities.
The accident occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 8700 block of Sylmar Avenue, said Bob Collis, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. The toddler, who was not identified, was in guarded condition, according a police spokesman.
A Fire Department helicopter landed near the accident site to fly the girl to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, Collis said.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and was being interviewed late Tuesday, according to authorities.
It appeared that no crime had been committed, said Sgt. Rod Grahek of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division. The incident remained under investigation.
