ANAHEIM — A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murdering a pregnant woman in a motel room last weekend.
Sheriff’s deputies had been looking for Hawkins Husser, whose address is unknown, since a motel housekeeper found the body of 31-year-old Carletta Mayweather in a room on Beach Boulevard. Officials did not say how Mayweather was killed.
Mayweather, whose address also is unknown, was six months pregnant, authorities said.
An investigation led deputies to suspect Husser, Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Wilkerson said. About 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Anaheim police spotted him in an alley between Western and Lincoln avenues and chased him to the 3400 block of West Ball Road, sheriff’s officials said. He was arrested there without incident.
He is being held without bail at the Orange County Jail.
