Trade balance: $5.7-billion deficit.
Main exports: machine tools and transportation equipment (33%); raw materials, chemicals and chemical products, semi-finished goods (47%).
Specialties: beer, crystal glass, Skoda cars.
HUNGARY
Exports: $13.1 billion, up 2.2%.
Trade balance: $3.1-billion deficit.
Main exports: agricultural produce, pharmaceuticals, textiles, machine industry products.
Specialties: salami, energy-saving light bulbs, wine, Suzuki cars.
POLAND
Exports: $24.4 billion, up 6.7%.
Trade balance: $8.1-billion deficit.
Main exports: agricultural produce, copper, coal, ships, textiles, glass, porcelain.
Specialties: furniture, household appliances, Fiat cars.
ROMANIA
Exports: $7.7 billion, down 3.2%.
Trade balance: $1.54-billion deficit.
Main exports: textiles, metallurgical products, chemicals, food and grains.
Specialties: wood furniture, wine, clothes, hunting arms.
SLOVAKIA
Exports: $8.2 billion, down 3.5%.
Trade balance: $1.95-billion deficit.
Main exports: steel products, petrochemicals, fertilizers and other chemicals, lumber, heavy machinery.
Specialties: plastics, pharmaceuticals.
