Wilkes, from Bolsa Grande High, has been skipped over for a pair of important post-season awards but got the biggest prize of all--a state title. She wasn’t voted the Orange Empire Conference pitcher of the year nor did she receive the most valuable pitcher award at the state softball tournament. But Wilkes did go 4-1 in the tournament, including pitching a one-hitter as Cypress beat Sacramento, 5-0, in the championship game. Wilkes finished the season 39-4.
