C.M. Newton Honored

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Kentucky Athletic Director C.M. Newton won the Basketball Hall of Fame’s John Bunn Award, the highest honor given to a college administrator outside of induction.
Newton, the 24th recipient of the award, has been athletic director at his alma mater since 1989. He also served as president of USA Basketball, the governing body of men’s and women’s basketball in the U.S., from 1992 to 1996 after four years as its vice president.
Newton, 67, is a member of the NCAA Division I Basketball Committee and chairman of the NCAA Committee on Basketball Issues.
The award, named after the late John Bunn, will be presented May 31.
