In other Division I matches:
Aliso Niguel 13, Fountain Valley 5--Jonathan Lippert won his three matches, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4, and the doubles team of Victor Carone and Chris Flynn swept its matches, 6-4, 6-3, 6-0, for host Aliso Niguel (17-2).
Corona del Mar 17, Alta Loma 1--Cameron Taylor and Erik Wohl swept in singles for Corona del Mar (13-7).
Woodbridge 15, Esperanza 3--Adam Artunian (56-4) swept in singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, for top-ranked Woodbridge (21-0), which advances to play Los Alamitos in the second round.
In Division II first-round matches:
El Dorado 10, Canyon 8--Michael Peng swept in singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, to help fourth-ranked El Dorado (21-0) defeat Canyon and advance to the second round where they play Santa Margarita.
Santa Margarita 15, Loara 3--Andrew Tsu won three matches, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1, and the doubles team of Garrick Gaffney and Andy Larson won its matches, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, for Santa Margarita (18-3).
Sunny Hills 17, Hesperia Sultana 1--Top-seeded Sunny Hills (16-3), with only one senior playing doubles, got a sweep from its doubles teams to easily advance to the second round.
Villa Park 10, Mission Viejo 8--Chris Tibbetts upset Mission Viejo’s Eric Bachelor, 7-5. Bachelor led the match, 5-2, at one point.
Villa Park (13-8) advances to play Claremont.
In Division III first-round matches:
Brea Olinda 15, Pacifica 3--Freshman Chris Manton swept in singles, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, to lead Brea Olinda (14-10), which advances to play Garden Grove in the second round.
Garden Grove 16, Lakewood Mayfair 2--Andro Ignacio didn’t lose a game in his three matches, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to help Garden Grove (18-3).
Servite 15, Sonora 3--Ryan Moore, Brock Heimann, and Michael Melby each swept in singles for Servite (19-2), which advances to the second round.
In Division IV first-round matches:
Laguna Beach 14, Brethren Christian 4--Aaron Talarico swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Laguna Beach (9-10).
