‘A Lot Less Muggy’ Days Are Expected

Now that a flow of subtropical air that brought moisture and humidity has left the area, the weather in the San Fernando Valley will be more pleasant and seasonal this week.
“The bottom line is it’s going to feel a lot less muggy,” said Rob Krohn, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
The area will still have late-night and early-morning low clouds and fog typical for this time of year, but afternoons will not be as humid, he said.
Over the weekend, the relative humidity reached 70% in the afternoons, Krohn said, “which is uncomfortable, especially for Southern California.” Most afternoons, relative humidity stays below 30% or 40%, he said.
The flow of moist, subtropical air brought some drizzle and thunderstorms to parts of the Los Angeles region, but not the Valley.
Humidity is still going to be higher in the mornings this week, however, because of the low clouds and fog, which will burn off late in the days.
“It’s going to be very typical late-May, early-June type of weather,” Krohn said. High temperatures this week will be in the low 80s. Low temperatures will be in the upper 50s and low 60s.
