Anderson Has Charm and Personality as Well

One of your letters said a romantic alliance with another male star would have the same devastating consequence for Tom Cruise’s career “as it would for Pamela Anderson Lee if her breasts fell off” (“Sorting Out the Ellen Effect and Other TV Matters,” Counterpunch, May 12).

Apparently, the writer never saw Lee charm an audience when her breasts were not objects of attention, as on “Oprah,” “The Tonight Show” and, most recently, in a Los Angeles courtroom to rave reviews, with even the judge appearing to succumb.

I have long maintained that Lee’s greatest appeal is in her face and personality. Her spontaneity, energy and honesty are as infectious as her smile. This is potentially the most popular star on the scene today, but, alas, her management has been wrong at every turn, and much of the blame must go to Lee herself.

Maybe she’d be better off if her breasts did fall off. Then the world would see her for what she really is: the winningest personality to come along in the last 50 years.
