Anne E. Queen of Oxnard, a retired secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers, died Saturday in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was 75.
Queen was born July 10, 1921, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Her family moved to Gary, Ind., where she attended high school. She lived in Ventura County for 20 years.
Queen worked as a secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers at Port Hueneme before retiring in the late 1980s.
Family members say that her favorite hobby was cooking.
“She had an extensive library of cookbooks from around the world and she enjoyed trying out new things,” said Queen’s son, John, of Oakland.
“Mom was noted for her apple pie. People commented she ought to go into business for herself.”
Queen also is survived by sons Robert of Oxnard and Richard of Atlanta.
A private service is planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of James A. Reardon Mortuary, Oxnard.
