Kasparov Issues New Challenge to Deep Blue

NEW YORK — World chess champion Garry Kasparov said Friday that he had recovered from his stunning defeat only days ago by the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue and wanted to play the machine again before the end of the year in a winner-takes-all match.
Kasparov said in an interview he was prepared to play the match in September or October in New York but under different conditions from the six-game contest that ended painfully and bitterly for him last Sunday and gloriously for a team of computer scientists.
“I’m ready to play all or nothing,” Kasparov said. “It’s very important, I’m not here to grab money even if I lose.” Kasparov won $400,000 for last week’s the match.
“I want to play a longer match of 10 games with better conditions for a human player,” the 34-year-old Russian grandmaster said. He said he wanted more rest between each game.
