CREATIVE ROSEANNE

Did we need another article to allow this egomaniacal woman to take all the credit for the success of her television program (“How Roseanne (the Woman and the Show) Changed TV,” by Greg Braxton, May 4)?

Poor “Roseanne” creator Matt Williams is so untalented. Perhaps if he’d had Roseanne bossing him around he might have been able to make “Home Improvement” into a hit. Likewise the “Roseanne” production company, Carsey-Werner. Without Roseanne’s invaluable input, it’s no wonder that programs like “The Cosby Show,” “A Different World,” “Grace Under Fire,” “Cybill” and “3rd Rock From the Sun” have been such flops.

If Roseanne were really the genius she says she is, how do we explain the fact that every other creative project she has ever been involved with has been a disaster? How do we account for the last two years of “Roseanne,” which were completely unwatchable and which completely betrayed the high standards that had been set in earlier seasons?

As someone who was once a huge fan of “Roseanne” (the show), I feel entitled to say that Roseanne (the woman) is the most wildly overrated person in popular culture. Let’s hope on Tuesday, when the show finally has its long overdue conclusion, that the woman will just go away.
