Fallon Wins League Tennis Title

Dana Hills’ Brandon Fallon defeated Mission Viejo’s Eric Bachelor, 6-4, 6-3, to win his second consecutive South Coast League title in the league boys’ tennis finals Wednesday at the Laguna Niguel Racquet Club.
Brian Kent placed third for second-ranked Dana Hills with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 victory.
The doubles team of Scott Merryman and Michael Nguyen captured the doubles’ championship, defeating Rob Hall and Chad Widtfeldt, 6-1, 6-2, for Capistrano Valley.
In the Century League boys’ tennis finals:
Hol repeats--Foothill’s Joost Hol won his second consecutive singles championship with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over El Modena’s Peter Feovenyessy, who finished third. B.K. Chang finished second with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Canyon’s Scott Diem. Rob Saggu and David Douglas won their second doubles championship for Canyon.
In the Orange League:
Tobolski wins again--Valencia’s Chris Tobolski defeated Brea Olinda’s Scott Koller, 6-1, 6-0, to win the singles championship for the second time in three years. Brea Olinda’s doubles team of Charlie Ahn and Mike Le defeated Eugene Ro and Eddie Eum, also from Brea Olinda, 6-2, 6-2, to win the doubles title.
In the first round of Division I volleyball playoffs:
Capistrano Valley 3, Orange 0--Ryan Thurlow had 17 kills and Jay Monson had 30 assists for third-ranked Capistrano Valley (16-1).
Mission Viejo 3, University 1--James Murphy and Gabe Burt each had 15 kills and Wes Anderson added 13 for Mission Viejo (11-8). Shawn Murphy had nine blocks and Devin Dean had 57 assists for the Diablos, who advance to play Huntington Beach Friday.
