LOOKING AHEAD / UPCOMING PREP EVENTS IN ORANGE COUNTY : BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

First-round play in the Southern Section playoffs begins Friday and a regional format has created some high-powered first-round matchups. In Division I, Dana Hills (10-6), ranked seventh in the final Orange County poll, will play at 10th-ranked Edison (10-4) at 7 p.m. In their previous meeting March 11, Edison defeated Dana Hills, 15-11, 15-6, 10-15, 10-15, 15-9. The winner will most likely have to play Huntington Beach, ranked fifth in the final Division I poll, in the second round Tuesday. In another Division I first-round match, Newport Harbor (10-6) plays at Aliso Niguel (14-3) with the winner most likely meeting third-seeded Capistrano Valley in the second round.
