Howard Morton; Co-Star of ‘The Munsters Today’

Howard Morton, 71, veteran character actor who co-starred in “The Munsters Today.” Morton worked regularly on television, but is perhaps best remembered as Grandpa Munster. He also played the bumbling Officer Simpson on the long-running NBC series “Gimme a Break.” A native of New York City, he moved to Hollywood in the 1960s and soon became popular in several television sitcoms, many for Norman Lear. Among them were “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons,” “One Day at a Time” and “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.” He also appeared in several motion pictures and stage productions. On Sunday in Los Angeles of a stroke.
