Driver Points Gun at O.C. Schoolyard

LAKE FOREST — A man pointed a gun at a crowded elementary school playground Wednesday before speeding off in a truck, officials said.
No shots were fired and no one was injured during the 12:40 p.m. incident at Gates Elementary School, according to Lt. Ron Wilkerson of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
More than 200 children were playing when the man pulled up to the playground in a silver Toyota pickup truck, Wilkerson said. The man got out of his truck, made obscene gestures at the youngsters and then pointed a handgun at them.
The children, most between 8 and 10 years old, scrambled and sprinted for cover while the man got back in his truck and drove off, Wilkerson said.
