UPS Driver Robbed Making Delivery

A United Parcel Service deliveryman was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning as he delivered $700 worth of cable television converter boxes to an apartment that turned out to be vacant.
Ventura police said that when 39-year-old Michael Noirot of Camarillo knocked on the door at 628C Riverside St., a man with a stocking over his face answered the door and put a gun to Noirot’s face.
The gunman ordered Noirot to drop the box, which was sent on a cash-on-delivery basis, and slammed the door.
Noirot ran to a nearby store and called police, but the thief fled before authorities arrived.
Police said the apartment, located in the Ventura Avenue neighborhood on the city’s west side, had been vacant for the last few weeks. Vandals had previously broken in and painted gang graffiti on the walls, police said.
