A conference to help focus political goals and ideas for the Latino community in Ventura County will be held at the Oxnard Hilton on Saturday.
The event, titled the Latino Summit Leadership Conference, is sponsored by El Concilio del Condado de Ventura and the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement. Organizers say they hope the event will foster political unity and point out the need for increased Latino involvement in the political process.
Scheduled speakers include state Sen. Richard Polanco (D-Los Angeles) and Anita Ferguson, president of the National Women’s Political Caucus. The event includes workshops in community participation, organization and training, and leadership.
The conference, which is open to the public, runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oxnard Hilton, 600 E. Esplanade Drive. Admission is $30.
