AlliedSignal Inc.’s Torrance-based aerospace unit said it won a contract valued at more than $250 million to supply auxiliary power systems to Montreal-based Bombardier Inc. Bombardier will use AlliedSignal’s RE220 system, which includes a power unit, air inlet and exhaust system, for its new 70-passenger CRJ-700 regional aircraft, AlliedSignal said. Bombardier plans to build 400 of the new aircraft. The system provides compressed air for air-conditioning and main engine starting and power to drive an electrical generator. The RE220, which was launched in 1993, is also on Bombardier’s global express and the Gulfstream V business aircraft. AlliedSignal shares rose $1 to close at $76.125 on the NYSE.
