Sanitary District Selects New Manager

David Burkhart has been named general manager of the Ojai Valley Sanitary District, replacing Eric Oltman, who held the position for 10 years.
The district’s board of directors selected Burkhart in a special closed session Monday. He will begin work May 27.
Currently a consultant, Burkhart, a Ventura resident, has served as assistant general manager of the Ventura Regional Sanitation District and as waste-water director for several special districts in the region, said Stan Greene, a spokesman for the Ojai Valley Sanitary District.
The sanitary district, which serves about 11,000 customers, was formed in 1985 when four districts in the area merged. Burkhart and the board are still negotiating salary and benefits, but the position pays “in the $80,000 bracket for basic salary,” Greene said.
