Anticipating a need for expanded manufacturing capability, Interack Communications Inc. has opened new facilities in Camarillo to produce its digital communications products.
The 35,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space replaces the company’s former site in Chatsworth and houses all of Interack’s operations.
Company officials said the move was in response to current and projected growth of Interack’s Route 1 family of products, which began shipping to customers last fall.
The new production line features state-of-the-art equipment designed for automated high-volume assembly and inspection of printed circuit boards and electronic subassemblies. The facility has an output capacity of 12,000 units per month per shift.
“The new facility will help us meet planned growth objectives through year-end,” said Interack president, chairman and chief executive officer Philip Ericson. “Customers, primarily major telephone and PC-hardware distributors, have verified our efforts with Route 1.”
Interack officials said they chose Ventura County because it represented a cost savings over expanding the Chatsworth facility.
“Aside from economic advantages, we were attracted by the area’s rural atmosphere and relatively clean environment,” Ericson said.
