Synthonics Technologies in Westlake Village has launched 3D DiagnosTx LLC, a subsidiary established to design software to create three-dimensional models and images for dental and medical diagnosis and treatment planning.
Formed in partnership with medical professionals in various fields, 3D DiagnosTx initially will develop software and services for use by orthodontists and reconstructive and plastic surgeons.
Company officials said the software will enable medical professionals to view and manipulate full-depth 3-D re-creations of their patients’ dental and facial features on their own PCs or send them across the Internet for consultative opinions.
The digital models can be created using Synthonics’ Rapid Virtual Reality, a 3-D image creation technique, officials said.
3D DiagnosTx plans to introduce its first products and services by the end of 1997.
