Taitron Components Inc. posted a 20% decrease in net income in its first quarter.
The Santa Clarita-based company posted a net income of $609,000 in the quarter that ended March 31, compared to $760,000 a year earlier.
Revenues in the latest quarter dropped to $8.02 million, compared to $8.07 million a year earlier.
The component manufacturer recently introduced a new catalog of passive components, such as resistors, capacitors and inductors, which the company believes will increase future sales. The company supplies a wide variety of transistors, diodes and other discrete semiconductors and optoelectronic devices to other electronic distributors and manufacturers.
The company, which bills itself as the “discrete superstore,” said its core strategy has been to maintain a substantial inventory of discrete semiconductor devices to supply an estimated $3-billion niche market often overlooked by other distributors.
