Houston pitcher Sid Fernandez began a rehabilitation assignment Saturday at triple-A New Orleans. He gave up four runs in 3 1/3 innings and took the loss against Nashville, 4-2.

Three San Diego players are due to come off the disabled list during this week’s road trip.
First baseman Wally Joyner (sprained ankle) is due to come off Tuesday, reserve infielder Scott Livingstone (elbow strain) on Wednesday and right-hander Joey Hamilton (right shoulder tendinitis) is scheduled to start Saturday night at Cincinnati.

Philadelphia right-hander Mike Grace threw 75 pitches in a simulated setting and is expected to start a rehabilitation assignment within two weeks.
