Jean-Claude Van Damme stars in Peter Hyams’ 1994 science-fiction thriller, Timecop (NBC Sunday at 9 p.m.) The time is 2004 and a new law enforcement commission and its top agent Max Walker (Van Damme) are determined to bring to justice a band of criminals backed by a greedy U.S. Senator (Ron Silver), as they use a time travel device for evil purposes.

Thelma & Louise (KTLA Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.), that 1991 feminist love-on-the-run thriller, finds two Arkansas chums (Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon) forced into a Peckinpah-style flight to Mexico, when one of them shoots and kills a would-be rapist. Their flight is goofy and mistake-ridden but as they keep going, their grasp at freedom makes them wilder and more joyous.

Watching Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau sparring with each other in the 1993 Grumpy Old Men (CBS Thursday at 8 p.m.) is like watching an old vaudeville routine for the umpteenth time. They play off their tics and wheezes with the practiced ease of old pros, but there’s something a bit too chummy and self-congratulatory about it all. Lemmon’s John and Matthau’s Max live side by side in a small Minnesota town and have been feuding for decades when a New Age-y widow (Ann-Margret) moves in across the street.

Hoosiers (KCOP Friday at 8 p.m.) is an engaging, modest, utterly American and thrilling 1986 movie based on a true story, about how a small-town Indiana high school basketball team plays its way to the 1954 state championship. Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey and Dennis Hopper star.

The Dead Pool (KCOP Saturday at 8 p.m.) finds Clint Eastwood, in his fifth outing as Dirty Harry, rock-solid, his preternatural wariness and wry whispering irony are still in full force but this 1988 film, while diverting, is among the weakest in the series. Liam Neeson co-stars as a nasty goremeister who may have either inspired or committed a string of grisly killings.
