Zagat Survey Goes to Paris? Mais Oui!
Zagat Survey is taking its “people’s choice”-style restaurant reviews to the capital of cuisine, Paris itself.
By March, 1998--when Michelin annually releases elite rankings of French restaurants--Zagat hopes to publish its survey, owners Tim and Nina Zagat say. They are aiming to recruit 1,000 “mostly French” reviewers by contacting food and wine societies, gourmet shops and professional groups in France.
In the meantime, Zagat Survey is moving to CD-ROM, allowing users to punch in their needs--such as a $20 or cheaper Italian meal in a Greenwich Village restaurant with a top decor rating--and call up a list of choices. It’s available only for New York now, but other cities may be added. The cost is $19.95 plus $1.95 shipping; tel. (800) 333-3421.
