Recycling

I think the city of Los Angeles has done a wonderful thing for all the shopping cart people down here in Venice. Once a week, they have us put all our aluminum cans and glass bottles out on the curb in a nice yellow bin (that we pay for) so the street folk can come along and easily pilfer the recyclables.
Every Monday morning I wake to the clatter and din of glass being dumped into shopping carts and rattled off down the street. It also makes the recycling truck guy’s job so much easier, because he doesn’t have to stop and collect anything. Not only are we subsidizing the street lifestyle with our Coca-Cola cans and pickle jars, we are saving all that overtime for the truck drivers. Way to go, L.A.
