Re Valley 200: “Opposites Attract, Succeed for Decades,” [Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows] May 7.
It has evidently escaped the notice of the editors of this series that the opposite of Episcopal is not alcoholic. It is a disservice to Episcopal alcoholics to exclude them from the ranks.
Seriously, do not give another form of denial to those persons who are addicted to alcohol. It is well known that this disease is not confined to persons of any particular religious faith or to persons of no religious faith. It is a true nondiscriminatory disease--it makes no exceptions for sex, race, age or religious belief.
It is my hope that any parents, whatever their beliefs, who have a problem with alcohol will find help in combating this disease and will not in the future read about themselves as portrayed in your article.
